The one thing he did do that was wrong was use a box cutter to cut the tape on the box. Since most ceiling fans are packaged with the blades at the very top, a box cutter would scratch the surface of the blade. I at one time saw a ceiling fan box with a warning against using a box cutter because of the potential of the blades being scratched.
He didn't cover the wiring for the power!
When I turn on the light switch the fan turns on, so all I want is to turn on the light and if I want the fan on I pull the chain how do u make sure the fan is only one if I pull the chain. thing a one thing another.
That’s bc you know what you are doing I’m a brand new newbie wish me luck ha ha
bro, if your electrical box is plastic and there's no ground coming from the power side…you aint grounded just because you grounded the green from the fan to the metal plate…that's a dead end, aint no path to ground.
You skipped all the wiring instr. to seperate the fan and light switches. Kinda the important part of making a tutorial video…
Thanks tall dude
Were did you install that fan and were was the switch for it
Great instructions. Especially the tips on safety and general hints.
u made me laugh
maybe i can do this… he makes it look easy! But i don't have a manual. There are just 3 random ceiling fans sitting in my shed. (I rent)
This guy is great!Look forward to more of his tutorials!
great tutorial, sweet and simple
Another thing if u want to use one wire black or red u have to read the instructions carefully or the ceiling fan wil not work and u will be hot and puke everywhere

Goal: install fan control light dimmerHere is what I have:1. black and white wire coming from circuit box (check with MM and the black is hot)2. black white and red going to the fan/light3. two white were already connected and tucked away, two back were connected together.4. What we have; two back together which connects to screw#1 on switch, red connected to screw#2 (this is a regular toggle switch and was the default; stay with me!)5. Old toggle switch removed6. New dimmer ordered from amazon for fan control has 1 black, 1 red, 1 yellow & 1 green. Another red and another yellow are optional for 3 way according to manual (capped off).7. Two blacks are connected8. green connected to ground9. Tried different combo like red to red, yellow to red etc. nothing seem to work. What am I missing?
***Had another dimmer that does not have fan control that only has two back wires and this works by connected black to BLACKS (connected together) and the other black to red. This have a humming noise as it is not designed for fan and is dangerous.
Now I have watched a few ceiling fan installation videos and I gotta say yours is the only one that specifically tells you what will happen if you do not do stuff right… ie, the fan will come down in ya face! Great informative video man!
You kind of look like a basketball player
He still has a hood accent
Rob still got that hood accent
… Bought a ceiling fan second hand for dirt cheap… After finally installing it and turned it on… Realize it's a fan only and no light… Fml
